Call for an Early Years Consultant
Uplift was formed in 2020 in response to the increasing poverty gap and the dwindling lack of provision in Mid Devon for young children and their families.
Uplift’s Mission is:
- To improve the lives and life chances of children under the age of five within their families
- To provide support structures and develop high-quality, evidence-based, early childhood services within communities
The first Uplift Hub opened in 2019 in Tiverton. Since opening, strong relationships have been formed locally to fill gaps in local service provision. Families have been supported in several towns in mid and east Devon and there is potential for widened activity in Hubs in Ottery and Honiton. Some of the least advantaged in our community have been supported throughout the pandemic with a baby bank and baby-weighing provision. Uplift activities are currently overseen by two part-time staff members, supported by volunteers.
We need to create an effective strategic plan to address the question:
How can Uplift develop to become a key organisation to give young children in Mid Devon the best start in life?
We therefore invite a suitably experienced consultant to work for us on a 3-month contract to answer the question and develop a viable model for the organisation.
The successful candidate will be expected to have a range and depth of working with young children and their families, an understanding of early years in Mid Devon and a range of professional connections.
Through open access to Uplift facilities, staff, board members, partners, clients, financial records and documentation, the consultant will be required to research widely into opportunities that help fulfil our mission and make relevant contacts, in order to develop a detailed strategic 3-year plan.
This plan will consider delivery; a staffing/volunteer structure, effective community partnerships; professional learning; research partnerships; fundraising; financial planning and communications.
Throughout this period the consultant will be expected to have agreed touch-base points with the Uplift Board and to deliver a final presentation with clear recommendations.
There may be a future role in the organisation for the successful applicant.
